Kenya Ranks as the Third Highest Recipient of Diaspora Remittances in Africa
Kenya has been ranked among Africa’s top three recipients of diaspora remittances behind Nigeria and Ghana, according to a World Bank report. Even so, according to the bank’s latest Migration and Development Brief, Africa recorded the slowest growth in diaspora remittances compared to other continents in 2022.

Safaricom Reports a Decline in Half-Year Profits to KES 30.2 Billion on Entry into Ethiopian Market
Safaricom’s net profit for the six months ended September fell by 10 per cent to KES 33.5 billion on the heavy costs incurred during its entry into the Ethiopian market, a review of the Mobile Termination Rate (MTR) this year and the introduction of Excise Tax on SIM Cards.

Safaricom Becomes First Telco to Roll Out 5G Network in Kenya
Kenya’s largest telco Safaricom Plc became the first telecommunication provider in Kenya to roll out the 5G network on 27th October 2022. The telco announced 5G trials in March last year, and the company today began the roll-out by switching on the network in 5G-ready areas enabling customers to enjoy fast and reliable internet connectivity for their homes and businesses.
