Google lists 25 African startups for its Black Founders Fund 2023 cohort
Google has announced the recipients of its annual Black Founders Fund, a $4 million initiative aimed at supporting early-stage, Black-led startups in Africa and Europe. This year, the fund selected 25 African startups out of a diverse cohort of 40, with 72% of the African startups being led or co-founded by women. The fund provides equity-free grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, along with mentorship, access to Google's network, and other support. The selected startups cover various sectors, including fintech, logistics, and healthcare, and will utilize the funding to expand into new markets and drive job creation. Google's Black Founders Fund aims to address the inequality in venture capital funding by providing resources and support to Black founders.
