DRC's first open-access data centre will commence initial operations in Q2 2023
The Democratic Republic of Congo's first open-access data center, OADC Kinshasa, will go live in Q2 2023. The facility is a partnership between Open Access Data Centers and TEXAF, a major long-term investor in the DRC, and will improve the country's IT and colocation, support the cloud infrastructure needs of businesses, and increase the country's internet penetration. The OADC Kinshasa data center will be the first in the country to create a vibrant interconnect and peering ecosystem, making it a key element of the country's digital infrastructure. It will also be a key enabler of sovereign data rules in the country, localizing internet data and making it more efficient to access. The facility will be Tier III certified by the Uptime Institute and embody carrier-neutral principles.
